It was announced today that the super middleweight and cruiserweight divisions would be showcased as a part of the World Boxing Super Series. There is $50 million dollars worth of prize money that will be allotted amongst the participants and a Muhammad Ali trophy available to the winners of each division.
Richard Schaefer will head the promotion but no telling what role his RingStar promotional company will play, if any, for the series.
Fighters can begin signing up on Monday with registration closing on May 26th.
Two boxers I’d like to see involved are Gilberto Ramirez and James Degale. Both hold a portion of the super middleweight crown and a unification fight between the two in the finals already sounds like a great idea. No telling on whether either one of them will sign up or not.
