A flurry of activities have taken place today for the exciting super flyweight division. As reported earlier, Naoya Inoue will defend his title versus WBO #2 Ricardo Rodriguez. Later on it was announced the WBC granted a request by Teiken Promotions to have their fighter Roman Gonzalez awarded an immediate rematch against Srisaket Sor Rungvisai. Rungvisai scored a surprise points victory over “Chocolatito” last month in New York City. Also announced was that Carlos Cuadras, who was supposed to face Gonzalez had he won last month, would face Juan Francisco Estrada in a title eliminator with the winner facing the winner of the Gonzalez – Rungvisai fight. Both Cuadras and Estrada have tested Gonzalez before only to fall short in exciting fight’s of their own. Both have also clamored for a rematch with Chocolatito since their losss. Cuadras lost just last Fall and lost his WBC title in the process.
No date has been set as of yet but if both of those fights landed on the same card it would be an explosive night of action. All four fighter’s have the ability to land KO shots against their opponents. While all four may be in a great mix and match scenario that gives fans excitement and action all-around, having one of them challenge WBO boss Naoya Inoue would also be an attractive option for fans as most in the division have so far avoided the “Monster” from Japan. For now, some great news for boxing fans as everyone gets to see these guys in action soon.
