WBO super flyweight champion Naoya Inoue of Japan will continue to keep a watchful eye on WBC champ Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez Saturday March 18th when Gonzalez defends his title. Thats because Inoue has been hunting for a fight with the P4P boss for the better part of two years now. Also ranked in the top 10 P4P, Inoue will be commentating on the fight live on WOWOW, a Japanese premium cable channel. During Gonzalez’s last fight, Inoue and his gym promoter made the trek to The Forum in Los Angeles to watch Gonzalez capture the WBC super flyweight title, his fourth division title, against Carlos Cuadras.
For now it seems Inoue will have to wait as Gonzalez this time around will be settling WBC mandatory obligations and is expected to be in a rematch with Teiken stablemate Carlos Cuadras after that. A fight between Inoue and Gonzalez would pair two top 10 P4P champions, a rare feat, and already has boxing journalists salivating with many putting that fight as their most anticipated bout right behind Canelo-GGG.
Inoue is expected to return to the ring sometime this Spring and if all goes well, maintain the same 3 fight schedule that he had last year.
