Inside Teiken Gym yesterday a Teiken official told No Sparring that Takashi Miura needs plenty of rest before he considers a ring return. April/May would be too soon, which is when Orlando Salido was looking for a fight date, with May 6th on the Canelo-Chavez Jr. undercard also a possibility.

Last month Takashi Miura KO’d Miguel Roman in the 12th round making him the mandatory challenger for new WBC title holder Miguel Berchelt. Orlando Salido was ringside for both Miura and Berchelt’s performances that night and had hoped, like Miura, that Berchelt would’ve lost to Francisco Vargas setting up a FOTY rematch.

The discussion then turned to whether Miura should skip the title chance with Berchelt and opt for Salido instead who’s more known and could offer a bigger purse and another HBO date.

It seems, according to Teiken, that Salido will have to keep hunting for an opponent and that Miura, when he’s ready, is most likely going to take his title shot against Berchelt.
