English boxing boss Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sports, announced today that his fighter Ricky Burns who holds the WBA super lightweight title will fight IBF champ Julius Indongo on April 15th in Glasgow, Scotland.
Indongo (21-0 11 KOs) had a surprise 1st round KO last month to rob Ed Troyanovsky of his title in Russia. Now Indongo will be rewarded with a nice payday and plenty of exposure from Sky Sports.
Here’s hoping the whole division can be unified this year with the winner facing off with WBC/WBA champ Terence Crawford. Hearn has already mentioned he would like Burns, should he win, to fight in Las Vegas next which could mean a Crawford fight is possible.
