Unified Light Heavyweight champion, Sergey Kovalev, announced yesterday with his promotional team Main Events that he’ll be fighting this summer on July 11th in Russia, near his hometown, against Isaac Chilemba. Television information is still being worked out as HBO may or may not televise the bout. With all of HBO’s recent cutbacks, I wouldn’t be surprised if it wasn’t televised stateside at all. Chilemba is 24-3-2, (10 KOs) and could offer a decent fight. Chilemba has never been knocked out.

Sergey Kovalev will face P4P star Andre Ward on HBO PPV next Fall. The Chilemba bout is seen as a stay-busy fight to keep his skills sharp, while also returning to Russia to fight in front of his home country for only the third time in his career.
